I got a bit undisciplined with my blog posts in the last month. One reason for that the study routine has starting after the first exiting month of the core.
What changed? First of all, the post core started. Compared to the core, we have electives now. For each period of six weeks each, I can chooses four courses out of fifteen. Consequently, I do not see half of the class anymore.
I have decided to go for a General Management approach and have not choose any specialization such as Finance or Marketing. In my opinion, that is what the MBA stands for: a general business education. There are other and better master programs for specific subjects. Anyway, compared to the core the classes are going more into detail and are more demanding which I actually like.
The highlight is the Technology Entrepreneurship class where two MBA's and two Engineers from other faculties are working together developing a business plan for a new venture. The whole class takes 13 weeks and the final presentation will be assessed by the executives of a venture capitalists. The class is taught be Michael Lyons who flys in each week from Stanford where he teaching the same class. I have really great take aways in that class.
With the start of the post core also the club activities got more attention. As the president of the MBA Sailing Club, I have started to build my team. In a couple of weeks, we will start with sailing lessons for our class. During the summer will be a lot of regattas in Vancouver we will use to train for the highlight of our season: we will travel to Italy and compete with more than 20 other schools at the SDA Bocconi MBA regatta.
Two weeks more to go and I will be back in Germany for a week. I am very exiting how that will be after more than six month in Canada.
